1958 CADILLAC FLEETWOOD SIXTY SPECIAL

JUST A FEW WORDS FROM THE OWNER OF THIS ABSOLUTELY ORIGINAL CLASSIC:

"I purchased the car in 1993 from Emery Adams.  Emery owned the ironworks company in Los Angeles that did many of the mansions in Beverly Hills and Bel Aire that belonged to such people as Mary Pickford & Douglas Fairbanks, Jr. (Pickfair), and many others.

Emery Adams purchased the car new on October 11, 1958 at Ronald Moran Cadillac in Hermosa Beach, CA for his wife Susan who he adored. Susan did not want a 1959 model as she thought they were too low and didn't like the styling as much as the 1958 model.  This car was one of the last that they still had on the showroom floor and they thought it was perfect. They didn't want air conditioning because it was $860 at the time and they thought it a waste of money since they lived in Palos Verdes Estates along the ocean. The car received very few miles as she had a severe stroke in 1960 and was completely bed ridden.  Emery knew that she loved the car and kept it, exercising it on weekends then telling her about it when he got home where he kept a full time nurse to care for her.  The car was only driven for that reason as Emery had work trucks that he drove regularly to get around in.

I met Emery in 1993 and became fast friends with him, taking him to car shows with the car and letting him tell the story of the car to people who would gather to admire it.  He knew his time was limited and wanted to keep the car out of the hands of his grandson so sold the car to me.  When he told Susan that he had sold the car, she passed away several days later.

I have kept meticulous records on the car since I have owned it and it still has less than 31k original documented miles.  I have the original protecto plate and owner's manual.  The original spare is still in the trunk.  The car is completely original except for brand new radial tires (it's first set of non bias ply tires), new brakes and master cylinder and regular fluid changes."
