The GSX600F is a great sport bike to learn on because its “right sized”, not too big, not too small, and exceptionally maneuverable. You don’t give up much when you choose a 600 over a 750, except that it’s cheaper on insurance, and at 80hp – its still powerful enough to get you into a lot of trouble.
Based on the GSX750 air/oil cooled unit, the 600cc inline 4 engine has proven to be a bulletproof design over the years. While 39 ft.lbs. of torque will get you rolling with authority, she’ll easily spin up to 10,000 rpm with the D&D pipe snarling nicely, and if you stay in it, 140mph will show up.
When it comes time to drop the hooks, the twin Tokico front calipers gripping 11.5” rotors will haul you down quickly, and the rebound adjustable front fork coupled with the link-type rear suspension incorporating an adjustable shock absorber means you can tweak the chassis for your own riding style.
With 4,552 miles, the bike has been exercised enough over the last 10 years to stay in shape, yet we recently had it fully and professionally serviced at RideNow Chandler to the tune of almost $3,000.00, which included:
