a stunning 1986 JAGUAR XJS-12 CONVERTIBLE WITH 36,000 ORIGINAL MILES. This car is finished in its original color of STEEL GRAY with GRAY interior and A BLUE CoNVERTIBLE TOP. THIS XJS HAS A HESS & Eisenhardt CONVERTIBLE TOP CONVERSION, ONE OF THE 2000 MADE DURING THE PRODUCTION.

The Hess & Eisenhardt convertible differed from the later Jaguar convertible XJS as its unpadded top folded down deeper into the body structure of the car resulting in a cleaner rear profile when the roof was lowered. The process of converting the stock Jaguar XJS Coupe into the H&E Convertible included the post-production removal of the roof, cutting the body in several sections, the addition of steel reinforcements behind the driver's seat, and 20 lb (9.1 kg) weights placed just behind the headlights to eliminate harmonic resonance caused by the significant modifications to the car. H&E XJS convertibles are easily identified by the lower folding top. The later Jaguar full convertible had a heavier padded top that did not fold into as small of a bundle when in the lowered position, but retained nearly all of the original components of the Coupe.

BODY:

ThE EXTERIOR PAINT is in VERY GOOD condition WITH ONLY A FEW CHIPS AS WOULD BE EXPECTED OF A CAR THIS AGE. THIS CAR RETAINS ALL of ITS ORIGINAL body panels WHICH are ripple, dent, and rust free and have never had any sort of body or accident damage. The convertible top IS NEW and works perfectly.

INTERIOR:

The interior is finished in ORIGINAL GRAY LEATHER. The seating areas are in VERY NICE condition, as are the door panels, and WOOD TRIM. The carpet is also in VERY GOOD original condition.

All of the accessories including the climate control, cruise control, AM/FM stereo cd player, power windows, power door locks and gUages work fine.

The trunk appears as new, the trunk carpet is in excellent condition with no rips, tears, or missing pieces, and HAS A FULL SIZE SPARE WITH MATCHING WIRE WHEEL.

UNDERCARRIAGE:

The underside is rust-free and very well preserved.

Very clean, Recently detailed

TIRES AND WHEELS:

The tires are the correct style and size: MICHELIN, P215/70R15 WITH FACTORY WIRE WHEELS.

OVERALL DRIVING IMPRESSIONS:

This JAGUAR is powered by its original 12 cylinder powerplant which runs and accelerates smoothly and very quickly and the TURBO 400 transmission shifts as it should.

The car drives around town and on the open road with no squeaks, creaks, or rattles. It has had all of the necessary service recently performed including oil change, AND tune up. THIS CAR IS READY to drive, show, and enjoy. All of the mechanical aspects of the car work as they should.
